Reiki

WHAT IS REIKI

Reiki is a gentle, non‑invasive complementary practice that supports relaxation, balance, and overall wellbeing. It works with energy to encourage the body and mind to move toward a calmer, more regulated state.

Reiki at Blue Amber is offered within a grounded, professional framework and can be used as a standalone session or alongside therapeutic and coaching work.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A REIKI SESSION

Reiki sessions are calm, respectful, and client‑led. You remain fully clothed and seated or lying down, depending on comfort. Hands may be placed lightly on or just above the body, or Reiki may be offered without physical contact if preferred.

Sessions are unhurried and provide space for rest, reflection, and nervous system settling.

HOW REIKI CAN SUPPORT WELLBEING

Reiki may support:
• Deep relaxation and stress reduction
• Emotional balance and grounding
• Nervous system regulation
• Supporting recovery from burnout or chronic stress
• Mind–body connection and integration

Responses to Reiki vary, and there is no expectation to feel or experience anything specific.

REIKI IN CANCER SUPPORT AND END OF LIFE CARE

Reiki can be a gentle and supportive approach for individuals living with cancer or those receiving end of life or palliative care. At Blue Amber, Reiki is offered with sensitivity, compassion, and an understanding of the emotional and physical complexities that can arise at these stages of life.

Reiki does not replace medical treatment, palliative care, or clinical interventions. Instead, it may be used as a complementary support alongside medical care, focusing on comfort, calm, and emotional wellbeing.

HOW REIKI MAY HELP IN THESE CONTEXTS

When working with individuals affected by cancer or at the end of life, Reiki may help to:
• Promote deep relaxation and reduce distress
• Support emotional calm and grounding
• Ease anxiety related to illness, treatment, or uncertainty
• Support rest and improve overall comfort
• Offer a sense of peace and containment
• Support individuals who find verbal therapy difficult or tiring

Responses to Reiki vary from person to person. Some people report a sense of calm or comfort, while others value the quiet, nurturing presence that Reiki sessions provide.

TRAUMA-INFORMED AND CONSENT-LED CARE

Reiki in cancer or end of life settings is always delivered with careful attention to consent, dignity, and individual preference. Sessions are adapted to energy levels, comfort, medical needs, and setting.

Reiki may be offered:
• With or without physical contact
• Seated, lying down, or bedside
• For short or extended sessions, depending on tolerance

Family members and carers may also benefit from Reiki support, helping to reduce emotional strain and support coping during challenging periods.

REIKI AND TRAUMA‑INFORMED PRACTICE

Reiki at Blue Amber is offered with strong awareness of trauma and consent. Choice and boundaries are prioritised at all times.

Clients are encouraged to communicate preferences, comfort levels, and any concerns. Sessions can be adapted to ensure safety, predictability, and control.

REIKI ALONGSIDE THERAPY OR COACHING

Reiki can complement counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, or mentorship programmes by supporting relaxation and regulation.

It does not replace psychological therapy but may enhance a sense of stability and embodied calm alongside other work.
